FAQ

  • Where are you located?
We are located in cozy South Austin near Manchaca & Slaughter.
  • What is the class size?
Our class size is kept small with a current maximum of 6 children per class and one teacher. The class size will expand to 12 children in June of 2024, but the 6-to-1 ratio will remain the same.
  • What is the class age range?
We accept enrollment for children between the ages of 2 and 4 years old, with September 1st as our cut-off date.
  • Are meals provided?
Pío Pío provides snacks with a rotating monthly menu of seasonal, fresh, and varied foods, while parents are responsible for providing a daily packed lunch for their child.
  • Does my child need to be fully potty trained upon admission?
Your child does not need to be fully potty-trained upon admission. We are able to support your little one in their independent toileting journey.
  • Do children nap?
Yes, our program allows for a daily 2-hr nap time.
  • What is the school calendar?
Our school year runs from September to May. As Austin ISD parents, we follow the district calendar for school holidays and closures throughout the year. Summer School is scheduled for the month of August.
  • Does my child need to have any previous experience with Spanish?
No, your child does not need to have any previous Spanish language experience. Our full immersion program is designed to be accessible to all of our students, regardless of their home language, while they are still in the early stages of language development. We make use of visual aids, games, actions, songs, books, and other playful experiences that naturally build Spanish vocabulary and communication skills, while making learning fun.
  • Will Pío Pío Preschool prepare my child for the traditional Kindergarten classroom?
Yes. As experienced Early Childhood educators in both private and public schools, we will assure that your child graduates from Pío Pío with strong interpersonal communication, critical thinking, and problem solving skills. Our program has a strong focus on creative exploration and expression, while also developing an understanding of classroom routines, procedures, and behavioral expectations. Through an emergent curriculum, our children will develop a strong foundation in literacy and numeracy through relevant and engaging student-led projects and learning experiences of a trans-disciplinary nature.
